Learning Agreement

Drafting a Study Plan

Before going to the host university, the student and the mobility coordinator agree on the exchange programme, creating Learning Agreement, taking into account the differences in the curriculum.

The programme includes, among other things, the choice of subjects and the number of ECTS credits (after converting the credits of the given university) to be completed by the student at the host university.

Participation in a bilateral exchange program cannot result in an extension of the period of study at the University or result in the loss of eligibility for an honors diploma.

After the exchange programme proposal is agreed upon with the mobility coordinator, the student submits it to the head of his/her field of study for approval. Once this approval is obtained, he/she sends it to the mobility coordinator by e-mail. Failure to follow the above procedure makes it impossible to accept the exchange program.

Diploma Seminar

Participation in the exchange program does not release the student from the obligation to take a diploma seminar (if the seminar is included in the curriculum of the studies realized at WNPiSM during the exchange semester).

A student is obliged to register for the seminar and complete it on an individual basis. Otherwise, the seminar will have to be repeated in the following academic year (for a fee).

Before going on exchange the student should inform the Promoter about their willingness to go on exchange and obtain consent to go on exchange and to complete the diploma seminar on an individual basis.

Credit requirements (ECTS)

A student is obliged to take as many courses during the bilateral exchange in a given semester as the sum of 30 ECTS credits (a semester of study) at the University of Warsaw.

The student may freely choose courses from the offer of the host university (they must be related to the academic discipline to which the student’s primary field of study is assigned).

In case of doubt, the Dean’s Plenipotentiary for International Cooperation and International Research Programs, based on the opinion of the Mobility Coordinator, shall decide whether a course should be accepted.

The equivalent of ECTS credits obtained at the host university does not have to correspond to the total number of hours of the course.

More on accounting for the exchange and converting ECTS credits in the tab Accounting for the Exchange.

Language proficiency requirements

It is the student’s responsibility to find out and comply with the language requirements (level of language) at the host university and to check whether the offer of the host university includes courses in a given language.
