The southernmost nation in Africa is the Republic of South Africa (RSA). Its southern border, which stretches 2,798 kilometers (1,739 mi) along the South Atlantic and Indian Oceans, its northern border, which is shared by Namibia, Botswana, and Zimbabwe, and its eastern and northeastern borders, which are shared by Mozambique and Eswatini. Lesotho is also entirely enclaved by it.


The QS BRICS University Rankings 2019, a list of the top colleges in the five BRICS nations, includes 13 South African universities. In South Africa, there are three different kinds of public universities: traditional universities, which have an academic emphasis; universities of technology (also known as „technikons”); and comprehensive universities, which provide a combination of both academic and vocational degrees. The Department of Higher Education and Training is in charge of adult basic education and training (ABET) facilities as well as postsecondary education and professional training. Additionally, each of South Africa’s nine provinces has an education agency that carries out both regional and national policies.
