Taiwan is a state in East Asia that is formally known as the Republic of China (ROC). It is situated at the confluence of the East and South China Seas in the northwest Pacific Ocean, with Japan to the northeast, the Philippines to the south, and the People’s Republic of China (PRC) to the northwest. Taiwan, an „Asian Tiger” that may be best known for its global tech industry but also offers strong academic programs across the full subject range, is becoming more and more popular among foreign students. National Taiwan University is the best of Taiwan’s top colleges, coming in at joint 66th in the world and 19th in Asia this year. National Tsing Hua University (ranked 33rd in Asia), National Cheng Kung University (ranked 42nd in Asia), National Chiao Tung University (ranked 46th in Asia), and National Taiwan University of Science and Technology are also among the top 300 universities in the globe (48th in Asia).
